Every year, Money Magazine comes up with a list of the Best Places to Live in America. These spots combine economic growth, affordability, and quality of life. Smyrna was excited to make the list at number 44 this year.
Rich in history, Smyrna takes pride in its alias, the “Jonquil City” — so named for the yellow flowers that transform it each spring. Credit goes to a gentleman in Spokane, back in the 1880s, who shipped a parcel of bulbs to his parents.
A century later, the city was transformed yet again — this time with a vision for a thriving downtown that fosters a sense of community and fights the sprawl of greater Atlanta. The Village Green encompasses City Hall, housing, a library, arboretum, shopping and apartments. Built around a central fountain, it’s a gathering place that hosts popular festivals and concerts year-round. See the stats here
Smyrna Grove was created in 2016 and named the winner of the 2016 Community of the Year Award. The amenities are wonderful at Smyrna Grove. Love where you live where you can get out and enjoy the outdoors with peaceful walking trails or sip a drink and chat with friends and neighbors around the outdoor fireplace during the fall months.
